Food:
Our #1 choice of food is TLC DOG Food (all life stages). It is a very high-quality food closest to raw you will find. It has a high-calorie intake which equals less food intake. It has many extra natural supplements we already add to our dog food such as: prebiotics, probiotics, and fish oil. It has all whole foods, quality meats, and most importantly NO RECALLS. Their food contains none of the YUCKY ingredients feeding cancer in dogs such as meat by-products, corn(gmo), wheat, soy, fillers, dyes, gluten, etc. It is NOT on the DCM list (: It is affordable and VERY high quality. The company is personable and REALLY cares about your dog's health. Which we love and what we are looking for! It is ALWAYS made fresh and shipped to your home FREE!

For other dogs in your home, I advise TLC or one on this list, AVOID "by-products", meat meal, fillers, corn, wheat, and soy. Stick with a specific meat "meal" (ex: chicken meal, beef meal, lamb meal, salmon meal). Raw Feeding is best, freeze dry or feeding kibble that is closest to raw with WHOLE ingredients such as TLC, Best Breed, N&D, and Natures Logic (but this food cant be fed till 12 months). I highly recommend looking at their recalls prior to purchasing, who sources their ingredients, where their meat comes from, fillers used, if they are bought by a large company.

You can order TLC food here and also receive $5 off your first order: https://tlcpetfood.com/nutrition/bostickenglishgoldens

Potty training:
Although English Goldens are VERY intelligent, depending on the personality of your pup it can take a couple of months to completely potty train. Here are some tips and tricks to train your puppy quickly (This method is successful for training by 3-4 months).
** Please do not resort to violence for any form of punishment. Puppies are small and delicate so smacking, kicking or spanking can harm or scare them for life. Puppies are like babies. They know not what they do, they just love to play, chew and enjoy life. When you punish them for pottying in the house it should be done with nothing more than a stern voice. (A stern "NO!" will do the job). You should clean up their mess thoroughly and direct them to their potty spot. (Do not let them see you clean up the mess, do not spank, and do not rub their nose in it). Take puppy outside every 20 minutes to potty and gradually increase time to every 30 mins, 45 mins, 1 hour. Only increase the length of time if they are doing good pottying every 20 mins. Continue to do this method till you find it successful. Rewarding your puppy with excitement, LOVE, and treats when pottying in the correct place, and doing the correct things, is VERY successful in ALL training. We recommend you crate your puppy at night, and when you leave to ensure the puppy is not pottying in the house, and not eating things that could cause a blockage. So please keep training gentle! (Zak George on youtube has excellent training advice) Doggy doors with a fenced-in yard are a lifesaver as well!! If wanting to train quickly and effectively put your dog on a leash in the house attached to YOU and limit his/her environment. (Where you go they go). When left unattended they should either be crated or confined in a playpen in a puppy safe area. You are also welcome to use a "litter box or litter pan" with horse pellets in that confined area to continue training. This method is only to be used if 1) not in a crate 2) you are not home and choose to not use a crate 3) or, you are busy and can not have the puppy attached to you.

Pet Peds:
Which is best for a golden you ask? Well we have gone through so many beds it's insane, we have some bed destroyers and some that don't but in the end, all of them suffer if they both now can't use the bed. So we have been on the search and found this indestructible bed. It came highly recommended and we are smitten over it! So save money in the long run now buying a bed they can't destroy and is super easy to clean (:

Crate Training:
We recommend a black wire 42-inch cage with a divider. This cage is easy to clean with a removable tray, and the divider keeps a limited space for potty training. When the pup gets bigger divider is removed and this cage will be good into adulthood. No more buying larger cages as they grow (: We also like extra large plastic dome crates for our adults. They like the comfort of being surrounded by walls. When crating you can cover their crate, however, remember to use a crate cover designed for crate training. NO BLANKETS, NO SHEETS, etc. If they pull these objects in, it can be VERY dangerous. Puppies typically do much better when they can see you. So possibly putting the pup in your room will help comfort them. Remember to have nothing in the crate till you know they won't eat and destroy their beds, stuffed toys. ropes etc. Our Goldens typically enjoy sleeping at the bottom of their crate because they enjoy the cool feeling.

Please remember to keep the crate in a common area during the day and fill it with fun toys. Take ONE of the 3 feedings and feed inside the crate. Give a treat after the pup goes into the crate. Make it a fun experience and do a few 10-minute training sessions a day. Click and treat when pup goes inside the crate. Eventually closing the door, and waiting, once the pup gets it, increase the time. Don't allow the pup to come out unless sitting and being calm DURING TRAINING, UNLESS the pup has been in there for a long time or it is morning or after nap and puppy needs to go potty. Pick puppy up immediately and take the puppy outside to potty.

Collars:
Safety Notes
Puppies grow quickly, so it is extremely important to adjust the size of his collar as he gets bigger. Check the collars fit frequently during your dog's first year of life and periodically after that. You should be able to slip two fingers comfortably underneath of the collar. It's recommended that your dog wear a collar with his identification, but because the collar can become stuck and potentially choke your pet, some experts advise taking it off while you're not supervising him (including in cage) and selecting a breakaway collar.
_______________________________________________________________________
Preventing Resource guarding:
From the beginning, all puppies can begin to resource guard their food, toys, or treats. This can be prevented or worked through if an issue arises. From the beginning spend some extra time HAND FEEDING, touching your pup while eating, putting your hands in their food, touching their toys especially bones, practice higher exchanges. Make sure you touch their toys a good amount and trade for something better (a treat, lots of loving or a more awesome toy). Teach them that you are not trying to take their toys but give them something awesome so they can relate to someone taking their toys as a positively good thing.

Please note: EVERYONE IN THE HOUSE MUST PARTICIPATE IN THIS!

Here is a video of other ways that work! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=266M5Tup9xc&t=183s
_______________________________________________________________________
Positive touch:
From the beginning, this is SO IMPORTANT especially if you have children that may get into your dog's face to give kisses. From the day you take that puppy home, you begin touching and putting your hand over the top of their snout, as they get comfortable with it and they feel it's just a normal routine, KISS that snout. Kiss it every day! Get close to their face and smooch and give lots of loving. Run your hands all over your pup's body, rub that belly, touch those paws, smooch that cute face and make him/her feel comfortable with touch. Not only pets on the back but pets EVERYWHERE from head to tail. This will prevent your pup from growing up being uncomfortable with touches in certain places or people/kids in their faces.
_______________________________________________________________________
Socializing with humans:
Socializing your pup is very important whether it be with friends, dogs, cats, kids, all of the above. FIRST, teach everyone good boundaries. This means teaching people how to RESPECT your dog's boundaries. Your dog may be afraid, it's a new situation, new people, this can be SCARY for a little pup. It's a new big world. So let's take things slow....Give each person your pup meets a TREAT, have them talk in a soft voice, have them walk slowly toward your pup and stop at a reasonable distance, have them hold their hand out, let your pup go to them and sniff their hand, and when your pup signals it is comfortable by a tail wag or a kiss, have them give her/him a treat. You always want them to make the move, not be forced to give love. This will show them that they can love everyone and people are nice and bring good things. For children, protect everyone! Which means never set your dog up for failure. Never leave a child alone with a dog, teach your children not to EVER jump on, climb on, sit on, hit or hurt the dog in ANYWAY! This is not okay,  they may not act like they are but they are in pain...it hurts them, it can harm their ribs, hips, elbows and more. No matter how light and little your child is, it is never okay! A growl is a warning so if in any situation your dog growls, remove the cause of the growl and give your dog a break. It does not like the situation or does not feel safe. Pay attention to all signs of distress and respect your dog's boundaries. Teach children and adults how to show love in a gentle way and pet gently. These tips will set your dog up for success!
_______________________________________________________________________

Socializing with dogs:
Bringing a puppy into the home is MUCH easier than an adult but for an older dog can cause both dogs distress. So it's important to introduce them slowly. Sometimes introducing on the sidewalk is best (this prevents your older dog from becoming protective and possessive over their home), letting them see each other from opposite sides of the street and slowly getting closer and closer until they meet, letting them sniff each other and see how they do. If they do well then it's time to bring your pup into the home. Let them sniff and play and have fun. If your older dog seems stressed let them go into a room to calm down. Sometimes pups have too much energy and older dogs need a break. It's okay, just listen for ques and give your dog a break as they need it.

Vaccinate according to our safe schedule advised, avoid recently vaccinated dogs that were vaccinated with any LIVE virus vaccine for approximately 4 weeks. Yes, you can socialize prior to vaccines, IMMUNE BOOST.

_______________________________________________________________________
Chewing:
Constantly reminding them with a stern "No chewing!" will help remind them to understand that they cannot chew on certain things. Using bitter apple spray and keeping them fulfilled with lots of fun toys and bones will keep them occupied. Puppies need lots of distractions so they don't get bored. We highly recommend RedBarn filled bones (they last for a very long time and are SAFE) for chewing on. . You can find these bones on Amazon. NO RAWHIDES or similar fake bones!! We also recommend latex toys and large kong toys as they are safe and last through a lot of chewing! PLEASE MONITOR YOUR DOG WITH ANY TOY, ESPECIALLY ROPES, FABRIC PLUSH TOYS, LARGE OR SMALL KONGS,  that can slip down the throat and cause a blockage. Baby proof your house and hide ALL cords! If they see it they will chew it!
**Reward your pup with a treat when chewing on its toys, or when just laying down doing nothing. That shows your pups that he is doing good!

Treats:
We recommend an all-natural organic treat to keep your fur baby safe, healthy, and happy. We recommend using their food as their treat for a while, and then introducing TLC Dog Treats!

Or it's super easy to make your own kinda like baking cookies. During training you can also use their food as a treat or bananas, small pieces of chicken, cubed cheese, cut-up meatballs, blueberries, apples, etc.

Bath:
We highly recommend Dr. woods or Bronner's Castille soap, Earthbath Oatmeal & Aloe Dog & Cat Shampoo. Not only are they all-natural, they also kill fleas that get on your pup.

Sickness:
Hopefully, your pup stays very healthy, especially if given their NuVet vitamin every day. But unfortunately, that is not always the case. It is always great to have colloidal silver on hand as a "just in case". Colloidal silver is a VERY safe, NATURAL antibiotic. Colloidal silver can be bought on Amazon, some local health shops, or made yourself using a kit. (You can also get your kit off amazon linked below). Colloidal Silver has been known to cure Parvo, skin rashes, heal cuts and scrapes quicker, cure eye infections, and much much more! Not only in pets but there are even hundreds of uses for humans as well. Definitely, a must-have for any home. Has your dog had diarrhea or an upset stomach? Has your dog eaten something it shouldn't have? It is best to keep activated charcoal on hand. This is also an awesome go-to! Works like a charm. Pair this with colloidal silver for best results to cure parvo quickly! The results are AMAZING! Organic Apple cider vinegar with Mother also has many health benefits. We add this to their water every day to ensure health.
Swollen Lymph nodes remedy: Colloidal silver, turmeric powder, organic acv, and manuka honey mixed together and given 5ml twice a day.

I highly recommend buying a kit to save money long-term, once you start using colloidal silver you won't want to stop. It has so many purposes, we use it for stuffy/runny noses, acne, cuts, scrapes, infections, inflammation, as breathing treatments for bronchitis or croup, stomach virus, eye infections, and more.....Great for use in humans and animals (:

Link to purchase a kit (very easy to make): https://amzn.to/3fXksis

Colloidal silver:
10-20ppm for ingestion
30-60ppm for topical use

During illness: (split up throughout the day in 10ml dosing at a time)
If using 10ppm do maximum dose, if using 20 ppm use minimum dosage.

Small breed dogs should receive up to 20 ml, daily
Medium-sized dogs should receive 20-60 ml, daily
Large-breed dogs may receive 50-100 ml, daily

(use a plastic syringe directly into the mouth or, if pouring into a bowl use a glass bowl NOT METAL!)

(Note: keep silver in a dark cool cabinet, do not expose to light)

Activated charcoal adsorbs a chemical or toxicant and facilitates its excretion via the feces. It basically acts like a magnet, attracting and holding the toxicant to its surface so that it passes through the gastrointestinal tract without being absorbed by the body. It is administered when an animal ingests organic poisons, chemicals or bacterial toxins or if enterohepatic recirculation of metabolized toxicants can occur. Enterohepatic recirculation occurs with some compounds that are metabolized in the liver. The metabolites are emptied in the bile and are reabsorbed in the intestines, which would allow for a persistent pharmacological effect.

Activated Charcoal: https://amzn.to/35reQuW

Dosage: The recommended dose of activated charcoal for all species of animals is 1-3 gm/kg body weight. Repeated doses of activated charcoal every 4-8 hours at half the original dose may be indicated when enterohepatic recirculation occurs.

Activated charcoal should not be given to animals that have ingested caustic materials. These materials are not absorbed systemically, and the charcoal may make it more difficult to see oral and esophageal burns. Other chemicals that are not effectively absorbed by activated charcoal include ethanol, methanol, fertilizer, fluoride, petroleum distillates, most heavy metals, iodides, nitrate, nitrites, sodium chloride, and chlorate.

Immune Boosting:
*We use NuVet vitamin. An all-natural vitamin that helps them get all the nutrients they need. It is beneficial against fleas as well.
*Apple Cider Vinegar has been a favorite of dog owners for decades now, and it turns out that there's a scientifically proven reason for that. For starters, it has a natural alkalizing effect on the body. An alkaline system can prevent diseases, and cure existing infections by increasing the body's oxygen intake in dogs. Cutting down on acidic foods and increasing foods that alkalize the system can help eliminate parasites when they're present in the gut. Some studies suggest that other similar acidifying products may be helpful for dogs to fight off yeast and intestinal infections

Flea & Tick prevention:

One of our favorite products for flea & ticks is Earth MD Outdoor Shield (Formerly Flea and Tick Prevention). Must be used prior to flea season, does not treat infestations)
https://www.earthmd.ca/products/flea-and-tick-prevention

We highly suggest adding organic apple cider vinegar with mother to your pup's water, just a splash in the bowl does the trick, or a tsp in a bowl is fine as well (depending on how large of a bowl). Just enough to change the color of the water slightly. IF your pup will not drink his/her water after it is added then try adding to food instead. Plenty of water is VERY important, especially during this hot weather; we need our pups to drink a lot of water! Organic ACV has worked wonders keeping fleas off our dogs but also with a combination of also taking their NuVet vitamin every day.

Ordering Link: https://amzn.to/32Am3b1 (2 gallons)

https://amzn.to/33U9PKW (2- 16OZ)

Recommended dosage based on weight:
Organic Apple Cider Vinegar.....

1 teaspoon for dogs up to 14 pounds
2 teaspoons for dogs 15 to 34 pounds
1 tablespoon for dogs 35 to 84 pounds
*Make sure to mix in with water or food.

https://betterpet.com/apple-cider-vinegar-for-dogs/

We also advise using dog SAFE essential oils for a homemade flea & tick collar (this also helps keep mosquitos away which helps as a natural heartworm preventative) or a spray bottle of apple cider vinegar mixed with essential oils that you can spray on them every couple days.. You can find which ones are safe by clicking this link: https://www.essentialoilhaven.com/best-essential-oil-brands/ (:

HOWEVER, I do not recommend using essential oils till they are at LEAST 12 weeks of age. Essential oils good for repelling mosquitos, fleas, and ticks that are dog safe are as follows: Citronella, cedarwood, rosemary, peppermint, lemongrass, lemon, orange, rose geranium, and lavender. I find they work best when combined and mixed with apple cider vinegar.

I typically use 8oz amber glass spray bottles. I add 10-20 drops each of about 5 different essential oils in them that prevent mosquitos. I fill at least 1/3 the container with organic ACV and then the remainder with water, and a carrier oil like coconut oil. We typically add 10-20 drops of neem oil as well. Modify as necessary.

Carrier Oil- https://amzn.to/33UKsIX
Glass spray bottles: https://amzn.to/3g1YIBW

Brewers Yeast: Another amazing addition to add to their food is BREWERS YEAST, this is also used in many products to keep fleas away. And can also be made into a spray: Simply put a teaspoon of powdered brewer's yeast into their food. You can also dissolve 1/4 cup brewer's yeast into 1 quart of water. Place in a spray bottle and spray pet, combing into fur as you do.
It will take at least four weeks of oral doses of brewer's yeast for the brewer's yeast to effectively drive away fleas, so you should begin supplementing your pet's diet with brewer's yeast in early spring if you hope to prevent a flea infestation. Brewer's yeast can be used as a probiotic and digestive aid. 2 tsp. for medium-sized dogs and up to a tablespoon for large dogs
https://amzn.to/3KOjZxm

Our go-to, that we found most effective for ticks has been food grade diatomaceous earth rubbed into their fur all over their body daily. Daily tick checks can prevent illness from ticks. Just simply rubbing your fingers through your dog's fur all over your body and between toe pads will keep your dog safe from ticks. When using this product ensure you are doing it outdoors with a facemask and take a wet rag to cover your dog's nose, mouth, and eyes. You do not want to inhale or cause irritation. Then have your dog go outside, roll around, run and play or go for a walk. You can buy this in smaller bags but I always just buy it in bulk because it has so many uses. https://amzn.to/35h2028

Another product I will add is Earth MD outdoor shield (flea and tick.) This is used by a great friend of mine with great success for fleas and ticks. Must use at the beginning of flea season as prevention and repellent instead of a treatment. https://www.earthmd.ca/products/flea-and-tick-prevention

More options for fleas:
https://vitalanimal.com/non-toxic-flea-control/?fbclid=IwAR0y4vWDpdTdr0BpxkIyUjwjHzX5-_vfVHH-U5pfeT91w-DrrsuR3X-ug1Q

Also, remember that bugs like dogs with weak immune systems so focus on staying chemical-free and boosting their immune system. Ticks also enjoy tall grass, so keep your grass as short as possible, plant some rosemary bushes around your yard, and you can also sprinkle food-grade diatomaceous earth around your yard.

**If you choose a commercial flea and tick medication thoroughly check long-term safety studies in GOLDENS, please look at the ingredients, side effects, and reviews prior to use. Remember that every animal has different genetics and WILL each react differently to chemicals. Stick to a flea and tick medication that only treats flea and tick and isn't combined with deworming or heartworm prevention. For example Comfortis. Only use flea and tick medications when you MUST, and have tried everything and it has failed to be successful. Only use during high flea and tick seasons. Not during the winter when it is unnecessary.
_______________________________________________________________________
Heartworm prevention:

A strong immune system will help prevent heartworms. It is recommended to test every 4-6 months due to their worm cycle so that you can always catch it before it progresses if your dog were to ever get it. Heartworms typically come from mosquitos, making a homemade bug spray to spray on your dog daily, or on the collar, would be a great alternative. This can consist of Organic Apple Cider vinegar, lemongrass, cedarwood, citronella, lemon, lavender, peppermint, etc. Do let them drink from standing water where mosquitos keep their larva) clean out pools often, water bowls, etc.  Heartworm is can be prevented and can be treated.

Heartworm Nosodes are shown to be very effective against heartworm (: Many holistic vets use them, you can order them here: https://vitalanimal.com/heartworm-nosodes/

I have attached a link about heartworm so everyone can have a better understanding of how the worm cycle works. It is not necessary to treat your dog for something it does not have. Focus on keeping their immune system intact and chemical-free.

Vaccines:

**Vaccine Recommendation for the safest best outcome: As a holistic breeder we encourage each one of our puppy families to do their own research and feel confident in their decision. We recommend SLOW EXPOSURE, (NOSODES) & IMMUNE BOOSTING to protect your puppy. If you are unable to follow our recommendations due to location or beliefs and must vaccinate your puppy please follow our guidelines to ensure you are using the safest practices. Studies show that waiting to vaccinate when puppies' immune systems are more capable and maternal antibodies are not interfering with the vaccine that vaccines can actually be quite effective after just ONE vaccine done at the appropriate age! If you must vaccinate your puppy, we recommend you wait till AT LEAST 16 weeks before starting the 1st vaccine (which will be the only vaccine they need). Studies show that puppies vaccinated prior to 12 weeks have a very low immune response to their vaccines which then equals more vaccines in the long wrong putting your puppy at more risk of long-term vaccine injury! Avoid public areas, dog parks, pet stores, and high-traffic dog areas until your dog has either built a strong immune system around 6 months old or has built some immunity from the 14-16 week shot. Playing with dogs, and puppies of friends you trust is OKAY, as long as they have not been vaccinated within 4 weeks due to vaccine SHEDDING.

Keep the puppy on NuVet vitamin to boost his/her immune system and to promote healthy growth. If vaccine reaction occurs stop vaccinating immediately. (Not worth the risk).  Puppies should receive ONLY single shots of distemper at 16 weeks, & Parvo at 20 weeks at the MAXIMUM. Nosodes are recommended as an alternative if available from your holistic vet. The ordering link is below.....
YOU CAN ORDER THEM YOURSELF!! (:

To order and vaccinate with nosodes:
https://vitalanimal.com/parvo-distemper-nosodes-kit/

NO SHOTS with mixed viruses (for example 3 way, or 5 way). After their 20-week SHOT (not shots) no more is recommended for the lifetime of your dog. IF you followed our recommendation waiting till 16 weeks or later your puppy should have created immunity to last a lifetime. IF you feel the need to do boosters, First, titer to see if your dog is still immune before continuing any further vaccines. No vaccines prior to titer test. (Vaccines reactions may seem mild, such as slightly puffy skin around the shot location, while others can be as moderate to severe as chronic skin allergies, seizures, respiratory disease, postvaccinal encephalitis or polyneuritis, anaphylaxis, arthritis, myocarditis, glomerulonephritis, thyroiditis, aggression, autoimmune disorders, chronic ear infections, neurological issues, lethargy, digestive issues, immune-mediated thrombocytopenia, anxiety, dysplasia, death, brain swelling, injection site sarcomas, facial edema, autoimmune diseases, and even cancer.)

Please remember it only takes ONE vaccine to cause a LIFE LONG VACCINE INJURY, No vaccine is "one size fits all" and NO VACCINE IS "SAFE".  Rabies vaccine should ALWAYS be done ALONE, if done within one month of the core vaccines this health guarantee is NULL & VOID! Rabies MUST be done no earlier than 8 months but highly recommended to wait till 1 year of age if the county allows it. ALWAYS GET THE 3 YEAR RABIES SHOT AS IT IS THE SAME AS THE 1 YEAR.  If the county does not enforce rabies we recommend checking your area for rabies cases and not vaccinating for rabies if you do not live in a high rabies area. Check the vaccines page for 65 vaccine reactions related to the rabies vaccine. Please remember to DETOX following EACH vaccine!!

Please be aware that vaccines do not have any appropriate long term safety studies, no breed-specific studies, they contain KNOWN neurotoxins as well as mercury aka Thimerosal, aluminum, guinea pig DNA, polysorbate 80,  formaldehyde, dog DNA, foreign animal tissues: chick embryo, bovine serum, human fetal lung tissue (from aborted babies), monkey kidney tissue, porcine tissue, eggs, insect proteins, glyphosate from GMO-fed animals then used for vaccine growth medium (eggs, bovine and porcine tissue), insect viruses (Army worm), Rotavirus, e coli and more. These ingredients are NOT safe and DO alter their DNA. I advise each person to research THOROUGHLY prior to vaccinating. But if choosing to vaccinate do the minimum amount of vaccines possible! We are our dogs BIGGEST VOICE. See our Vaccine information page for further information on ingredients, studies, side effects, and more.

We highly recommend NOSODES or building natural immunity SLOWLY.

This is very important to avoid over-vaccinating...Which can cause life-long illnesses, seizures, cancer, neurological issues, allergies, and much more. Rabies is the most dangerous, so if you can avoid it, do so. If not get the 3 years (it is the SAME as the 1 year). Please review this link below for more information:

Nail Trimming:
We recommend checking nails every two weeks and trimming if necessary. A good routine will make this easier when the dog is older. Trim right above the quick (red part of the nail), if you can't see it (do to black nails) shine a light through the nail to see through it.

Safari Professional Large Nail Trimmer For Dogs is a great nail trimmer. https://amzn.to/3r0Wnh6

Nail Grinder: (If you plan to use a grinder, introduce this as a puppy) https://amzn.to/35gHvCG
_______________________________________________________________________

Dog Bowls:
Avoid high raised bowls as they can contribute to bloat. Slightly raised is OK. Feed 2-3 times a day recommended on food bag. (3 times is preferred for puppies until at least 6 months old). Stick with a slow feeder bowl to prevent bloat from eating to quickly. This neater feeder is great and easy to wash. Awesome for goldens that enjoy splashing. This is what your puppy is using now!

Avoid plastic or anything that can leach chemicals.

We recommend glass or stainless steel for food and water bowls.

DO NOT EVER SHAVE YOUR GOLDEN. This RUINS their double coat. Shaving your golden can ruin their coat, make them prone to hot spots, put them at risk for sunburn, heat exhaustion, irregulate their body temperature. There is absolutely no need to shave or cut your golden's hair. Trimming around feet and paw pads for traction on floors, and cutting any mats behind ears if they develop is OKAY. Regular ear and teeth cleaning is ideal.

Ear cleaning:
*50/50 white vinegar/water on a cotton ball works wonderfully!

*Coconut oil with cotton balls or apple cider vinegar. Wipe coconut oil into the ear, clean the gook, then take a little bit more and rub into the ear canal. Do this every few days or when necessary. Check ears weekly.
(Tip: I rip each cotton ball in half prior to use, it is easier and you get more use out of one)
In the case of an ear infection garlic ear oil or colloidal silver works amazing!

Deworming:

Earth MD is a great option, already mixed and ready to go. Shake bag prior to giving it to your pet.

It works well and is all-natural!

After dewormed we recommend regular use of diatomaceous earth FOOD GRADE, and organic apple cider vinegar to prevent worms.

Sometimes we use Raw Pumpkin seed. Pumpkin seeds are an extremely effective deworming agent because they contain an amino acid called cucurbitacin. This paralyzes the worms making them easily eliminated from the intestine. ... One teaspoon of raw pumpkin seeds (not the salted savory snack ones) per 10lbs of body weight twice a day should do the trick. To get the best results from pumpkin seeds, it is recommended to roast and grind the seeds, and mix it with your dog’s regular food to prevent worms. You can use the pumpkin seed treatment for tapeworm, ascariasis, pinworms and rope worm and it may also help with other worms.

We use diatomaceous earth-food grade; it is a natural safe de-wormer. Taken internally, DE can rid dogs of roundworms, whipworms, pinworms and hookworms, though they are less effective against tapeworms – within a week of daily feeding. It should be fed for at least a month in order to kill hatching eggs and worms moving in and out of the stomach. Make sure to mix the DE well into your dog's food to prevent lung irritation from his breathing in the powder. Externally, fleas and ticks can be controlled by lightly dusting the pet's body with diatomaceous earth.

*Based on customer testimonials and a few studies here are some of the many benefits to animals that use and ingest this product:

ANXIETY:

Did you know that anxiety & even depression is linked to inflammation on the brain? Again let's find the ROOT cause of your dogs anxiety!

I would like to relate this back to our past post about DETOXING. This is a super important role in anxiety. I will even use myself as an example. I personally have struggled with anxiety my whole life. I began detoxing my liver, kidney, colon, upping my vitamin intake, and finally resulting in using TRS. I am a few months in and my anxiety is almost non existent. Now I worry about normal things, not just the extreme things that were going on in my head making it hard to enjoy life. So I will begin with detoxing is definitely where you should begin and then introducing an anti inflammatory regimen.

Do you know what causes inflammation on the brain?

Other causes of brain inflammation include:

  • Chronic inflammation in the body.

  • Leaky gut/unhealthy gut

  • High blood sugar and diabetes.

  • Hormone imbalances.

  • Hypothyroidism.

  • Food intolerances (gluten is notorious)

  • Brain autoimmunity — a disorder in which the immune system attacks and damages brain tissue.

  • Bacterial or viral infection.

  • High levels of stress.

  • Arthritis and other autoimmune diseases such as gout.

  • Trauma or injury.

  • An allergic reaction to external factors such as perfumes and cleaning products.

  • Eating too many highly processed, high sugar and high salt foods.

  • Vaccines (Known neurotoxins: aluminum, Formaldehyde, )

  • Heavy metals

  • Environmental toxins

Foods & Supplements that are anti-inflammatory:

These include celery, alfalfa, ginger, mango, papaya, blueberries, and kale, among others. Pet owners can blend these fruits and vegetables together to make a juice or smoothie and add them to the dog's daily diet.

Now lets go one other direction with this. Their are some cases that can cause anxiety in dogs and I would say those would be more puppy mill cases, and puppies that were not cared for well, or well socialized in that 8 weeks with their breeder. If this is the case. You will need to do a lot of positive reinforcement training, lots of treats, and making those connections to their brain that these new experiences result in all good things. Clicker training is a great start!

How to prevent cancer:

-Limit or remove household toxins such as: bleach, candles, air freshners, cleaning chemicals..convert to all natural cleaners and dog safe 100% pure essential oils, peroxide, and white vinegar.

-Only use natural shampoo on their skin: earthbath and pure castille soap from dr. bronners

-Quality food and treats (avoid by products, fillers, corn (gmo), wheat, soy.)

-Limit vaccines (or no vaccines) & TITER test.

-Keeping a strong immune system

-No early spay/neuter

-No yard chemicals

-No smoking (don't forget about second and third hand smoke)

-Prevent obesity

-Appropriate exercise

-No heartguard

-No flea/tick chemical prevention. Only natural prevention.

-Keep the CIO breeding low

-Clean drinking water (avoid fluoride, find clean drinking water, ideally well or reverse osmosis)

-ALKALINE THEIR BODY : organic raw unrefined apple cider vinegar with mother in it. ACV helps the body maintain a ph balance by restoring the body's alkaline state. (you can give one teaspoon to one tablespoon twice a day for a 50-pound dog).

Seizures:

What cause seizures in dogs?

There are many causes of seizures. Idiopathic epilepsy, the most common cause of seizures in the dog, is an inherited disorder, but its exact cause is unknown. Other causes include liver disease, kidney failure, brain tumors, brain trauma, or TOXINS.

The most important thing you can do is create a calendar and mark every vet visit down, what you did at that vet visit, and when these seizures began. Its VERY important to know what triggered the seizure. Mark every time you gave flea & tick meds, what you bathed your dog in, when you or your neighbor sprayed their yard with pesticides, etc...

Vaccines, flea and tick medications, and overall exposure and absorption of TOXINS are causing seizures to SKY ROCKET in our dogs. Genetics can play a roll, but things can trigger these genetics to cause the seizures.

So what to do if your dog now has seizures but was previously fine!?!

DETOX!!!!

Their are a few ways to detox that I will list below:

1)TRS (Safe heavy metal detox) Ask me about Coseva TRS and I will give you more information. https://www.mycoseva.com/shopline_category.html

2) DIET (Detoxifying foods)

3) SUPPLEMENTS (herbs, food grade DE, activated charcoal, etc)

COMBINATION OF ALL.

It is very important for all dog breeders holistic or not to detox their dogs (just like you and your family should detox regularly as well). Their are way to many toxins in the world and unfortunately we do not detox them all by ourselves.

Eventually these toxins & heavy metals build up on our brain and organs causing a LONG list of health issues from cancer, seizures, auto immune disorders, allergies, skin disorders, odd ticks, neurological delays, aggression, etc.

I am HUGE for not treating the issue, but finding the ROOT of the issue and fixing the issue. To many doctors and vets these days prescribe to cover up symptoms but aren't actually figuring out the cause and fixing it.

What to do if your dog has a seizure:

Keep them Cool

Dogs can overheat if they have a long seizure, so put cold water on their paws and turn on a fan to lower their temperature. (Never put water on a dog's back to help it cool off.)

Benefits of Vitamin C to Your Dog

(Reprinted from Whole Dog Journal)

Holistic vets tout the benefits of vitamin C, while nutritionists argue the necessity.

By Bob Griswold and Nancy Kerns

For humans, a source of vitamin C in the diet is literally necessary for survival. Early sailors deprived of fresh foods for extended lengths of time often suffered from “scurvy,” a nasty affliction characterized by bleeding gums, loss of teeth, a weakened condition, and sometimes death. It wasn’t until the late eighteenth century that Captain James Cook, the first European to visit the Hawaiian Islands, taught the British Admiralty how to prevent scurvy by adding fresh fruit or lime juice to its sailors’ daily ration of rum (thus earning them the nickname of “Limeys” that endures to this day).

In the early 1900s, ascorbic acid was isolated and identified as the nutrient that prevented scurvy. Humans, it was discovered, are among the few animals that cannot manufacture vitamin C in their own bodies, and must obtain it from an outside source (fresh fruits, vegetables, or vitamin C pills) on a regular basis in order to avoid illness.

Dogs, however, can produce vitamin C in their bodies, and because of this ability, nutritionists have long considered it unnecessary to add C to a dog’s diet. Until recently, few dog food makers added vitamin C to their products – or if they do, it was for the preservative action of the vitamin, rather than its nutritive value.

Vitamin C advocates say that young dogs who regularly receive C supplements develop far fewer cases of hip dysplasia and arthritis.

Vitamin C Benefits Sick and Stressed Dogs

This may be appropriate when dealing with healthy unstressed animals, but recent clinical observations indicate that when dogs are sick or stressed, they can rapidly deplete their bodies’ output of vitamin C. A 1942 study noted that dogs with skin diseases usually have very low amounts of vitamin C in their blood.

Other researchers have found the blood levels of vitamin C to be low – and even non-existent – in dogs with fevers and dogs who have exercised to their limits (sled dogs after a race, for example, or hunting dogs in the middle of hunting season).

Stress is the best-known cause of vitamin C depletion in dogs. Physical stress comes in many forms: gestation, lactation, growth, hard work (dogs used for herding, hunting, tracking, etc.), vaccinations, injuries, tail-docking or ear cropping, or illness. Emotional stress, whether caused by relocation, weaning, or demanding training, can also deplete this reserve. In fact, researchers can measure the level of stress a dogs experience by measuring the degree of depletion of the vitamin in the dog’s blood.

Conversely, many studies have found that dogs (as well as humans) that are supplemented with vitamin C show greater resistance to disease, and a better ability to recover from injuries or illness.

How Vitamin C Affects Dogs

Wendell O. Belfield, DVM, is perhaps the world’s best-known and most ardent advocate of vitamin C supplementation for dogs. In his book, “How to Have a Healthier Dog,” Belfield describes how he first came to experiment with (and appreciate) the power of vitamin C in his veterinary practice.

Following a particularly heartbreaking episode, where he was unable to save the life of a beloved family dog that had distemper, he began researching viral diseases. In the course of his studies, he came across an article about a doctor who used massive doses of vitamin C to successfully treat viral diseases such as polio and hepatitis in the 1940s. Belfield began wondering whether C could be used to combat canine viral diseases.

One day in 1965, another client came to Belfield’s office with a dog that was suffering from distemper. Belfield decided to try an injection of vitamin C on the dog, and it responded dramatically, surviving what he had been taught in veterinary school was a fatal disease for which there are no successful treatments.

Following this success, Belfield began experimenting with vitamin C treatments for all kinds of conditions in dogs. His trials and studies have convinced him of the tremendous power that the vitamin holds for dogs.

According to the “Encyclopedia of Nutritional Supplements,” by Michael T. Murray (1996, Prima Publishing), vitamin C improves immune function by enhancing white blood cell function and activity. It also increases the blood levels of interferon (the body’s natural antiviral and anticancer compound) and antibodies (proteins that bind to and destroy foreign material such as bacteria, viruses, and toxins).

Vitamin C is commercially available by itself or combined with other nutrients in a number of forms. See “Which Form of Vitamin C is the Best?” for information about your options.

Ways to Use Vitamin C on Dogs

Time and further studies are bearing out Belfield’s findings. Today, vitamin C is routinely prescribed by holistic veterinarians for a number of illnesses, including cancer, kennel cough and other respiratory infections, abscesses, and other bacterial infections. Due to its important role in maintaining the health of collagen, it appears to be especially helpful for slowing – and some say, reversing – degenerative joint disease, hip dysplasia, and spinal disorders.

When older dogs are started on vitamin C, the results are often dramatic. This 13-year-old's arthritis used to limit her mobility, until owners began giving her supplements of vitamin C.

The use of vitamin C as a preventative and immune booster are also celebrated. Some veterinarians suggest giving C to dogs before and after vaccination, to dogs that have been exposed to contagious diseases, to pregnant and lactating dogs, and for healthy teeth and gums.

According to Belfield, young dogs and old dogs can benefit the most from routine vitamin C supplements. Due to the extensive stresses faced by puppies and young dogs, such as numerous vaccinations, surgical procedures on dewclaws, tails, and ears, and the demands of rapid growth, he suggests that all young dogs receive C.

As they get old, dogs become less proficient at producing their own supply of vitamin C, and more in need of antioxidants. Administering vitamin C to even very old and feeble dogs, says Belfield, can reinvigorate and strengthen them.

Vitamin C Dosage for Dogs

The average dog normally produces about 18 milligrams of vitamin C per pound of body weight per day. Therefore, for a dog that is free of clinically significant symptoms but is experiencing unusual stress, supplementation with about that much C per day appears be a conservative maintenance dosage. (About 500 milligrams for a 28-lb. dog daily.) To increase absorption, veterinarians recommend splitting the total daily dosage into several feedings during the day.

However, many holistic veterinarians routinely suggest maintenance doses that are three to four times that amount. They explain that modern, domestic dogs need more vitamin C than the theoretical “natural” dog, since their bodies must deal with so many challenges: stress, pollution, chemicals and pesticides, and poor diets, to name a few.

Too much vitamin C, especially if given in one dose, will cause diarrhea in dogs. What amount is too much varies from dog to dog, so, when administering the maximum amount of C for a therapeutic (not just maintenance) dose, many veterinarians will suggest that you increase the dose in 100-500 milligram-per-day increments until the dog develops diarrhea, then reduce his daily dose to the previous day’s dose. (This is often referred to as dosing to “bowel tolerance.”)

Individuals' dogs may be more or less tolerant of vitamin C supplements, and their tolerance may change with environmental conditions. For instance, a dog that is experiencing great stress may tolerate 4,000 milligrams without diarrhea, but develop the condition as the stress is removed. The owner’s awareness of the quality of the dog’s stool is critical to appropriate dosing.

The type of illness being treated should also be considered when determining the dose. Some guidelines published by holistic veterinarians include:

  • Richard Pitcairn, DVM, “Dr. Pitcairn’s Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats.” Pitcairn suggests giving 100-500 milligrams (based on the dog’s size) of vitamin C daily to dogs that are exposed to unusually high amounts of pollutants.

  • Cheryl Schwartz, DVM, “Four Paws, Five Directions: A Guide to Chinese Medicine for Cats and dogs.” Schwartz suggests giving vitamin C to dogs with a variety of illnesses, including upper respiratory conditions (small dogs, 125 to 500 mg. twice daily; medium dogs, 250-1,500 mg. twice daily; large dogs, 500-1,500 mg. twice daily), arthritis (to bowel tolerance), infected ears (small dogs, 250-500 mg. twice daily; large dogs, 500-1,000 mg. twice daily), and skin allergies (small dogs, 125 mg. twice daily; medium and large dogs, up to 750 mg. twice daily).

It’s important to remember that a healthy, happy dog with a quality diet and little stress probably has no need of supplementation with vitamin C. However, if stress, illness, or age causes a dog’s need for vitamin C to outstrip his ability to produce it, supplementing him with C is a sensible choice.
